Equestrian Paintings

My love of horses shows in my equine paintings. There is nothing like the sight, feel or smell of a horse. I think I have captured the power, grace and beauty of the horse in each of my paintings. Some are in my trademark "style" some are photo realistic. I have enjoyed painting every one.

Morning Mist

12" x 16" oil on canvas. For Sale 375.00

This is a crisp morning scene in my pasture. I am fascinated by the dew on the spider webs that line the fencing. They look like spun silk with diamonds glistening. The misty horses in the background are delighted with the fresh grass.

24x30" oil on canvas. For Sale 685.00

Bonnie and Cliff Fawcett from Vanderhoof own this beautiful team. I asked and was granted permission to do this painting of them working the fields. The light shining on the coats and through the dust is stunning.

Refreshing

Refreshing

36 x48" oil on canvas was done for a couragous lady who was making some positive changes in her life. She wanted a painting that would brighten her space and fill it with excitment. The definition of refreshing means restoring strength and vigor. She had complete input as to how the painting would be and therefore got exactly what she wanted. This painting felt right from the first brush stroke. It was great fun to paint.

Jim McRae and Shilo

24"x36" pil on canvas. In 1988 Jim McRae made the gruelling journey along the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada riding Shilo and packing Shilo's daughter Sandy and a mule named Duke. For more information about this fantastic trip check out Jim's diary of the trip in the trails section of Aldergrove chapter of Back Country Horesman of BC website (on my links page). Shilo died at age 27 and this painting is a tribute to him, the only horse known to be ridden the entire trail and in one season, an unbelieveable task that won him the award for "horse of the year".

Jokers

24 x30" oil on canvas, for sale 550.00

Our mule Pete and our friend's mule Fred are a hillarious pair. They seem to be laughing at the rest of us because they know something we don't, they most likely do. Mules are not stuborn, actually, they are very smart. It is a stupid owner who argues with a mule. You are much better off to trust their decisions and ask politley for their cooperation.
