September & August, 2011 - This has been the busiest time ever. The 3rd annual Langley Art Studio tour took up all my time. As an organizer I am pleased that we put on such a great event for Langley. May, 2011 - This month was spent getting ready for my first show with the Fort Langley Artists Group. I completed 3 paintings for the Year of the Forest themed show.

We took our new horse trailer on it's first camping trip. It poured rain and we were grateful for the large awning. Wet riding in the desert - only in BC.

April, 2011 - Mostly busy purchasing a new horse trailer and importing it from the US. Not as difficult as I thought it would be. Old Camper and horse trailer were put up for sale.

I did a beautiful painting of Besenji dogs for a client. I enjoyed being able to paint it my way.

March, 2011 - Another dog portrait of a beloved pet. Lots of outdoor work planting 1600 baby christmas trees. Muddy back breaking job. We built a new round pen. Handy for rehabing Star and training Boo.

January, 2011: Another commision-this time of a beloved pet that passed away. Bellerophon's Gallery in Fort Langley has been asking me for more cats for my Funky Cat series, so I have just completed #24, called Can Can Cats and am working on four more. That ought to keep them happy for a while!

I was just invited as a member of FLAG, (Fort Langley Artist's Group). They seem like a dedicated group of artists and I am going to enjoy being a member of their group.

December, 2010: I had some commissions that needed to be completed in time for Christmas gifts plus I painted several pieces to give as Christmas gifts. It was a good Christmas this year. We were busy visiting many friends and relatives. For Christmas we had smaller groupings of people to visit so it was easier and not as tiring!

November, 2010: I was lucky enough to be able to go to London, England and see the National Gallery and the Tate Gallery. I really loved the National Gallery and was thrilled to see Vincent Van Gogh's Sunflowers. It was awe-inspiring and nearly brought me to tears. We also went to Paris and I got to see the Louvre which is far more massive than I had imagined. I spent hours there and only saw a tiny fraction of the masterpieces. The Mona Lisa was anti-climatic because it was quite small. I also had a great time visiting my husband's family farm in Scotland and visited my daughter Jessica in Montreal.

Last year recap:

The spring was spent working on some large commissions for some nice people. I finished my house stairs with wood harvested from our own trees, laid a wood floor in a guest bedroom and got my gallery looking good with some custom wood work. I also put in a large vegetable garden which took up my spare time for the rest of the summer.

During the summer I did Arts Alive, that was a fun show. I participated in Cultural Crawl by having some of my equestrian work on display at the Langley Municipal Hall for Year of the horse. Most of August was spent working in collaboration with Deborah Strong on a large interpretive mural in the Tourism Langley office. It showcases Langley landscapes and attractions. During the summer my niece bought a horse and moved him in here. I was very busy training the young horse and young rider.

September was the 2nd annual Langley Art Studio Tour. All our hard work organizing this event paid off as it was enjoyed by artists and visitors alike. This year we had additional guest artists in the studios of host artists. We also had mini workshops in many of the studios. I taught how to draw horses to a packed studio of aspiring artists. What fun!

Throughout the year I did paintings and graphics for new customers and faithful old customers and I am grateful for that. I donated paintings to PRDA and the Cancer Gala. It was a good year. Special thanks to Bays from Bellerophons Art and Antiques, Doug Folka, Deborah from Tourism Langley, Jim from Continuing Education, Susan Bahr, Sandi from Stud Muffins, Ray and Donna Morris, Lesa Zavergahielz, Sue Kennedy and Victoria Watson.
