About Thunderfoot Studio

I share my time with the 2 major interests in my life – horses and art.

I was born and raised in the Fraser Valley and I raised my family here as well. We live in Aldergrove on a farm with horses, dogs, cats, sheep and the occasional pig. I grew up riding horses and drawing. I was 14 years old when I got my first horse and I also sold my first painting.

I graduated from University of the Fraser Valley in the Graphic Design and Communication Program. The Graphic Design training I received, combined with my strong fine art skills, provided me with the ability needed to create my custom art and design business, and tailor it to meet the needs of the horse industry. Thunderfoot Studio is known and respected by horse owners all over the Fraser Valley.

My preference for art has always been painting. As an artist living in the natural beauty of the Fraser Valley, I see potential paintings everywhere. Add horses to the scene and I am in heaven. In my paintings I strive to evoke the strong feelings of spirit, energy, warmth, trust and comfort in peace of mind.

Another direction for my creativity is my Funky Cat series. These fun graphic styled cats are very popular and not just with cat lovers. My BC series are native-themed paintings that combine wilderness scenes and wildlife in a bold graphic style. I also enjoy painting the Fraser Valley farms that appeal to me.

When I am not painting, I am caring for my horses and riding. I am a certified riding instructor and overnight trail guide. I ride the backcountry of BC and this gives me access to extremely remote areas where the pristine wilderness provides spectacular subject matter for paintings.

Over the years I have done many paintings for clients in Canada, USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand. It has been a great pleasure to create fine artwork that is appreciated by discerning art collectors.

I am pleased to be able to share my work with you and I hope you enjoy my paintings.

Yours Truly,
Vivian Harder
